Educational Levels
SEK-Catalunya offers all the educational levels: Infant, Primary, Secondary and Upper Secondary.
INFANT SCHOOL
In this stage we seek for the students' personal attention, the development and the happiness of the child based on the following programmes:
- Early Stimulation
- Learning based on the constructivism theory
- Simultaneous learning of three foreign languages with native teachers.
- Movement, swimming, creativity workshop, music and students start their first steps playing with computers
- The use of the agenda in order to enhance the communication between the family and the school: health, meals, naps, personal attention…
- "La libreta viajera" because we learn to read and write by reading and writing. This notebook has been designed as a support for communication: students write the name of their parents, the month and dates, greetings in English, the names of their classmates, poems, songs.
PRIMARY EDUCATION
The main aim of the SEK Educational System at this stage is to encourage in children their desire to learn. Besides the curriculum, students follow the "Learning to be" programme, to develop their personality with the help of the tutor and parents and the "Learning to think" to improve the intelligence with specific contents and materials..
These are some of the activities carried out at this stage:
- Maths and/or Science in English
- Creativity workshops and music
- Environmental education
- ICT: Introduction to Paint and web pages, the click corner (1st and 2nd grades); introduction to Word and typing (3rd and 4th grades) and word processor (5th and 6th grades)
- Pre-sports: On the 1st and 2nd grades swimming and the rest of the sports vary from term to term.
SECONDARY EDUCATION
Students work under the "Aula Inteligente" system-the learning community of teachers and students- with flexible timetables according to the task students are carrying out, the use of new technologies, group dynamics and peer work. There are some hours during the school day devoted to peer-work where students help each other with the different subjects.
Specific Programmes:
- Middle Years Programme, programme offered by the International Baccalaureate Office
- Fourth Foreign Language: French or German
UPPER SECONDARY
Students can follow the Science and Technological, Humanities and Social Sciences option with a wide variety of subjects to choose. The following programmes should be highlighted:

- Fourth Foreign Language: French or German (three lessons a week)
The students of SEK-Catalunya have entry preference in our University, Camilo José Cela in Madrid.
POLITÉCNICA SEK (Vocational School)
The Politecnica SEK School offers different vocational courses: Business and Marketing Management, Finances and Administration, Development and Computer Application. All these courses have a practical aim. We have established several agreements with companies such as Microsoft, Sun, Genexus, the Barcelona Marketing Club among others so students can get a real knowledge of the work field.
FOREIGN LANGUAGES
- Study of three languages with native teachers
- Study of subjects in English (Primary)
- Secondary Education: Introduction to a fourth language: French or German
- Training to the Cambridge Certificate: Starters, Movers and Flyers (Primary), KET, PET, FCE and CAE (Secondary and Upper Secondary)
- Trinity Certificates: grades 1 to 12
- DELF: Secondary and Upper Secondary
- French and German official exams
- In order to improve the command of French and/or English, the school offers students the possibility of studying a school year in SEK-Dublin (6th grade of Primary, 1st and 2nd grades of Secondary) and in SEK-Les Alpes (2nd to 4th grades of Secondary).
ICT
- ICT is taught by a specialist. All the children have regular lessons (one to three hours a week depending on the grade) and students prepare the MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) Certificate which includes Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
TUTORIALS
Tutors have two main functions: they are the link between the school and the family and also they are in charge of the personal development programme "Learning to be". The student's agenda is an excellent way of communication between the tutor and the family.
VOLUNTARY WORK AND ENVIROMENTAL ACTIVITIESOREIGN
Students develop their voluntary work in a school for mentally handicapped people in Granollers, also collaboration with the Cáritas organisation and the participation in the Marathon to raise funds for the Vicente Ferrer and ACELL organisations. SEK-Catalunya participates in the "Green School" Programme organised by the Generalitat.
