SEK-School Dublin. Irlanda
SEK-Dublin was founded more than 20 years ago and it is considered the Spanish school with the most tradition in Ireland.
IN THE GARDEN OF IRELAND
Located in a landscape of over 20 hectares in the County of Wicklow, well-known as the "garden of Ireland", not far away from the sea and 30 kilometres away from Dublin. The school is surrounded by beautiful hills, sequoias, beech tress, fir-tress and ash-trees.
Midway between Bray and Greystones, the main building is of Georgian style and in an attached building the School has several classes with technological resources, library, dining room and kitchen in addition to tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields and green areas.
A huge green and sports courses favours the practise of different outdoor sports.
More than learning English
The School curriculum in SEK-Dublin centres on the learning of the English language, produced in a natural way by means of a total immersion in the language and the Irish culture, but this is not the only aim of the school curriculum.
- Three hours a day of English as a foreign language with reduced groups of students and native speaker teacher.
- Some of the subjects of the curriculum are taught in English.
- There is a special emphasis in the work and study habits by means of personal attention and the guidance of the teachers.
- Use of technological resources with Internet connection, e-mail, access to the SEK-intranet.
In the open air
Sports, open-air activities and cultural trips are part of the Programme at SEK-Dublin.
Some of the most common trips are to go to concerts or visit museums such as the Natural History Museum or the National Maritime Museum; also visits to Dublin Castle, The National Gallery, Kilkenny Castle and Cathedral. There are also day trips to nearby sites such as Glendalough or Calingford, and a three-day trip to the United Kingdom, visiting cities like Manchester and Chester.
Monday mornings students can practise sports: football, tennis and horse-riding. Besides students have several hours of study of Maths and Spanish, and, two Saturdays a month, students go on trips to nearby villages.
11 to 14 years old are the most suitable ages not only to learn the language in its natural environment but also to adapt to the Irish families. The adaptation of the student to the new family is produced without difficulties and the student becomes a family member.
SEK-Dublin School organises the traditional summer courses in the month of July for students aged 10 to 17 years old.
