Ideas. A meeting point
For those who are part of the Institución Educativa SEK our Set of Ideas is our meeting point. Teachers, parents and students fulfil their daily responsibilities and duties with a firm, balanced and common educational and ethical reference. It is the Institution's own character.
The educational essence of Institución SEK is included in its own Set of Ideas, approved in the first SEK Convention, in 1969, and updated in the fifth Convention, in 1994, in which parents, students, former students and teachers took part.
1. The student and his or her own world are the meaning of life and pedagogy of the Institution. It respects each student as an individual, encourages ability, development and strives for self-fulfilment.
2. Institución Educativa SEK educates in and for freedom. It accepts this challenge and exerts the student to become responsible for his or her own actions.
3. It respects values (individual, family, historical, cultural and religious) and it encourages the basic values of Christian humanism in the vast majority of its members.
4. It fosters universal solidarity in its students and its teachers. It values work, an essential factor in the growth and appraisal of the person, as a component of friendliness and not as an element of rivalry or ambition.
5. Institución Educativa SEK has its mind open to the world and to new times, as well as to new educational innovation of quality and to those educational and cultural organizations whose main aim is that of improving the human being and looking for a more educated society.
Values Learnig to be
The core values in which we anchor our educational system should be shared naturally by the family and by the School environment. Children and youngsters not only learn from what we say but also from what we do and who we are.
Do the right thing
This
motto, resembling Kant, was the first one in Institución SEK. It
praises the autonomy in human behaviour and advocates our hierarchy of
values. It should be present in every aspect of the student's life.
Our vision of human beings
In
essence human beings are capable of being perfected. They can and have
to develop themselves by means of using freedom in a stimulating and
motivated environment. To develop a personal structure firmly linked to
a set of strong and coherent set of core values is a must.
These are the main core values in which Institución Educativa SEK's educational system are founded.
