Educational stages and external certificates
Programmes for integrating English into day-to-day activities:
- EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
A bilingual programme, with specialist native teachers and an essentially communicative methodology.
- PRIMARY EDUCATION
The learning process is comprehensive, which allows us to work with a variety of linguistic competencies using English on a functional basis: as a means of communication, as a source of information and as a work tool.
In addition, the use of English as a teaching language for a range of
subjects in the syllabus assists fluency and contextual usage. The
methodology used in Primary Education allows pupils to sit external examinations::
Cambridge University Examinations at
three levels: STARTERS at the end of the first cycle, MOVERS at the end
of the second cycle and FLYERS at the end of the third cycle of this
stage.
Trinity College of London ,
whose syllabus is perfectly suited to pupils' communicative levels and
requirements. At the end of this stage they can complete the Initial
and Elementary levels.
- COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION
Objective:
the consolidation and correct use of oral and written expression. The
interdisciplinary structure of the SEK Education System is ideally
suited to the study of subjects such as Geography, History or Natural
Sciences in English. External awards:
Cambridge University Examinations
,awards which demand both written and oral skills. The examinations for
which teaching is provided, in terms of linguistic competence are: Key
English Test (KET), Preliminary English Test (PET) and First
Certificate (FCE).
Trinity College of London, this test is principally of an oral nature. Intermediate Level.
- BACHILLERATO
Activities:
critical reading of literary works, oral talks and discussions,
presentation of essays and research projects, use of multimedia
technology and the Internet, and specific coaching for degree study. At
the end of this stage the following external diplomas are awarded:
Certificate in Advanced English and/or Certificate of Proficiency in English from the University of Cambridge
Second foreign language: German or French from Year 5 of Primary Education.
- The Alliance Française awards recognise the level of linguistic competence attained: Prepa 1 y 2, Caf, CEFP2, DL y DS.

The TANDEM certificates are aimed at pupils in Primary and Secondary
Education. Pupils studying for Bachillerato can take the German
Institute Grundstufe.

The European Federation of Schools (FEDE) awards the Diploma of
European Culture as well as certificates in English, French and German.
The SEK organisation has collaboration agreements with the British Council, Cambridge Schools Centre, International House, Alliance Française and the Goethe Institut. These institutions cooperate in the organisation of courses, hold examinations at our centres and provide ongoing training for our teaching staff.
