Extra-Curricular Activities
Activities
There is a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. These activities are developed within and after the school day. Arts and Crafts School: Exhibitions are organised on a periodic basis.
ARTISTIC SCHOOLS:

- Music School: Music theory and also movement activities combined with music..
- The school also has an old musical tradition. The school has its choral and it participates in different events in and out the school.
SPORTS SCHOOL:
- Swimming: From 3rd grade of the Infant School
- Sports activities: directed to students from 5th and 6th grades of Primary. These activities are carried out in the SEK Club. Some of the activities are as follows: swimming, paddle, tennis, horse-riding and aerobics.
- Karate: Primary students
- Judo: Pupils from 3rd grade of Infant School
- Football School: Students from 2nd to 6th grade of Primary and participation in tournaments .
- Rhythmic Gymnastics and Dance: Infant and Primary Students
SEK-Santa Isabel received in May 2003 the award for its relevant contribution to sports in the Gala del Deporte de Madrid de la Comunidad de Madrid.
COMPUTER SCHOOL
Addressed to students from the 3rd to 6th grades of Primary. Students learn the basic computer tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point…
CHESS SCHOOL
Students learn with teachers from the Madrid Chess Federation with computer training programmes. SEK-Santa Isabel is the seat of the competition among the SEK schools.
NATURE CLUB
Activity directed to students from the 3rd to the 6th grade of Primary. It takes place on Saturday mornings and students do activities in the Centre and activities in nature. The main aim of this activity is to get to know and enjoy the environment. This club is organised by INEF (Physical Education) teachers.
ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES AND VOLUNTEER WORK
There are many activities during the school year. It should be pointed out the recycling campaigns, the agreements with the Red Cross (during the school year 2002-03 SEK-Santa Isabel received the Red Cross Gold Medal), with the Spanish Association against Cancer and the Hermanos de San Juan de Dios, specially we help them specially with the Christmas campaign.
FOREIGN LANGUAGES SCHOOLS
- British Council. SEK-Santa Isabel signed an agreement with the British Council many years ago. The British Council teaches English in our centre with native speakers and in reduced groups. Students are trained to sit for the Cambridge Exams.
- English Classes. (Students from 3rd to 6th grades of Primary) This activity is directed to students with English learning difficulties. It is carried out by school teachers.
CULTURAL VISITS AND TRIPS
Due to the exceptional position of the school in the centre of Madrid, it is easy to organise cultural visits to exhibitions, theatres, parks and natural surroundings.
The Skiing Weeks take place in Candanchú o Sierra Nevada for students from 3rd to 6th years of Primary and in Valdesquí for students in the 1st and 2nd years.
The spring trips to school farms are focused for students on the 3rd grade of Infant School and on 1st and 2nd grades of Primary.
End of the course trips to Andalusia, Asturias… for the students from 3rd to 6th grades in which they combine cultural and sport activities and leisure.
SPECIAL DATES
The school celebrates special days within the school year. Some of them are as follows: Carnival, Cross Competition among the SEK schools, Fiesta Castiza (Madrid typical day), Christmas Concerts, Christmas Carols Contest and Exhibitions.
